Vestry Notes from Vestry Clerk Randy Marks

June 25th meeting

The Vestry is the governing board of St. Mark’s. It generally meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7PM, with some members gathering in the conference room at church and others via zoom. Michele as Rector, Jim Brooks as Senior Warden, and Martha Huizenga as Junior Warden lead it and it has nine members, which we elect for three year terms. The full St Mark’s leadership structure is on our website.

The Vestry met on June 25. As usual, it heard reports from Michele, Jim, Martha, and Treasurer, Doug Ammon. They included an update on our September 8th Celebration of our Vision 2020 Capital Campaign and the Parish Fair that day.

The Vestry then discussed how to improve communication and coordination among our many activities and the role of the Vestry as whole and as individual Vestry members in facilitating connection among them.

Finally, the Vestry continued its April discussion of St. Mark’s vision focusing on how we want to belong and barriers to doing so. One focus was a recognition that outside events (such as the election) may prove difficult and the value of being able to discuss them openly and compassionately.

Once they are approved at the July meeting, the minutes of the meeting will be here, along with past minutes and the St.Mark’s By-Laws. I post hard-copies of the minutes in the undercroft in the gathering area near the stairs.

Any member may attend Vestry meetings. If you have questions about the Vestry, or want to attend a meeting, contact me at clerk@stmarks.net.
