Thank you and Summary from June 18th Film and Panel
Many thanks to those who volunteered to host Neighbors for Justice (N4J) and Families Against Mandatory Minimums (FAMM), for the documentary “District of Second Chances” on June 18th. The event was well attended by 75 individuals. Volunteers included Leslie Allen, Edna Boone, Penny Farley, Peter Hawley, Charlie Rupp, and many more who helped afterward. As always, Michael Gravlee set us up for success!
In a panel discussion, eleven men shared their experiences from the perspective of being formerly incarcerated. Most are working as credible messengers, violence interrupters, and mentors. Thank you to everyone who attended! Opening our hearts and listening to our neighbors – is living into our mission statement to “welcome people wherever they are on their faith journey.” In so doing, “we celebrate God’s gifts, which empower us to engage boldly in life’s struggles and care for others with love, justice and compassion.” Jan Lipscomb, incarcerationjustice@stmarks.net
