Vestry Notes from Vestry Clerk Randy Marks

Jan 11, 2025

The Vestry (St Mark’s governing board) met on January 7 for officially the “December” meeting. The focus was our finances, with highlights:

● We received$230,000 in December pledge payments. Preliminary financial results suggest we will end the year with a small surplus.

● The draft 2025 budget: Based on $1 million dollars in 2025 pledges (we have about $965,000 in pledges now).

  • Provides a cost of living increase for all staff.
  • Funds all requests from Pillars and Committees, including Music, Youth and FamilyMinistries, and Service & Social Justice.
  •  Allows for a large increase in our support for the Diocese.
  • Anticipates a far smaller deficit than recent proposed budgets (which ended up with small surpluses).

The Vestry also:

  • Created a committee to recommend the genealogical Raiford Gaffney bequest.
  • Discussed our February 2nd Annual Meeting and the report for it.
