Virginia Theological Seminary Reparations
In 2019, nearly two centuries after its founding, Virginia Theological Seminary announced it planned to repay the debt it owed slaves and Jim Crow-era Black laborers by creating a $1.7 million reparations fund. In February 2021, it began issuing $2,100 cash payments to eligible descendants.
