Vestry Notes

December Meeting

At its “December” on the Feast of the Epiphany (January 6), the Vestry:

  • Approved a Shrove Tuesday (February 17) Pancake Supper fundraiser for the youth pilgrimage program.
  • Approved a new Parishioner Complaint Policy.
  • Heard a report from the Nominating Committee and discussed possible improvements in the nominating process.
  • Learned that, based on incomplete 2025 financial results, the Parish likely ended the year with a small surplus or deficit, as opposed to the large budgeted deficit.
  • Instructed the Finance Committee to (1) fund all Pillar/committee requests, (2) consider new requests, and (3) include as 2026 income the unspent funds from the Employee Retention Tax Credit.
  • Discussed the communication plan for the strategic planning Parish survey.

The Vestry next meets on January 27, at 7PM, in person and via zoom.  Contact me at clerk[at]stmarks.net with questions or to attend a meeting.  See the website for Vestry members and meeting minutes https://www.stmarks.net/who-we-are/leadership-and-governance/the-vestry/

The Parish will gather for the Annual Meeting on Sunday February 8, at noon, after the 10AM service.

The minutes of the February 2, 2025, Annual Meeting (which the Vestry has approved) are here https://tinyurl.com/STM2025AnnualMeeting.  At its June meeting, the Vestry proposed several amendments to the Parish By-Laws for consideration at the February 8 Annual Meeting.  This notice has the proposed changes and their rationale https://tinyurl.com/STMbylaws26

As this note is likely my last as Vestry Clerk, I am grateful for the support of the Vestry, officers (especially Michele and Jim), and website team. I leave the Vestry Clerk duties in the able hands of Ryan Baugh, former Senior Warden and now Assistant Clerk.
