Vestry Notes from Vestry Clerk Randy Marks
The Vestry — St. Mark’s governing board — generally meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 PM, in person and via Zoom. The St. Mark’s website lists its members and other leaders and meeting minutes. Contact me at clerk@stmarks.net with questions or to attend a meeting.
Highlights of the July 25 meeting included:
● With the Finance Committee, doing the mid-year finance review. Although we have healthy financial resources, we are running a deficit well above our budgeted deficit, largely because pledge payments are lower than budget. The Vestry made minor budget adjustments and will review our finances again on September 24 (after taking August o).
● Receiving a report on Raiford Gaffney’s very generous bequest.
● Discussing creating a fund to support the music program.
● Discussing membership engagement, community building, and the Parish Life Pillar, including the concept of “continuum of connections.” Key elements include small groups, mentoring, hospitality, and communications.
