Update on our Afghan Refugee Families
The Stanikzai’s oldest is preparing for kindergarten as they continue to thrive in an apartment complex with other Afghan families. Christ Church has helped with dental bills and Margie Ware has provided health insurance guidance. The Tokhi family of six is making progress in language skills while the father seeks a better job. Barkat and Latifa celebrated her sister’s escape from Kabul to Pakistan. Latifa is doing well in an ESL class paid by St. Mark’s. St. Mark’s, along with Washington Community Fellowship, is providing them rental assistance. Barkat is happy with his job at Eastern Market Trader Joe’s. We are relying on our network of churches and individuals to alert us when newly arriving Afghan families need support. If any of you are interested in a more personal relationship with one of our families, please let us know and we’d be happy to provide introductions.
