Our Bible — Then & Now
Join us at stmarks.net/bibleclass every Wednesday.
So that we might be more present for all we do and must witness, this class will rediscover the Christian roots of resistance and resilience in the first seven chapters of the Gospel of Matthew (the genealogy, birth, satanic test, and Sermon on the Mount).
We will interpret the text in its rich context of culture, language, history of the first century (CE), including the text’s allusions to the Hebrew Bible, and then seek the meanings that may emerge for our lives in this century.
The course meets Wednesdays, from noon to 1pm, exclusively on Zoom. It starts September 18 and meets every week, except the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
