Pentecost Witness for a Moral Budget

Tues Jun 10 | 10am | Capitol Grounds
Join Bishop Mariann and other faith leaders at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for A Pentecost Witness for a Moral Budget—a public gathering of faith leaders, clergy, and people of conscience calling on Congress to reject proposed budget cuts that would devastate the most vulnerable among us. Register today with Pentecost Witness and with EDOW.

Programs like Medicaid and SNAP, which ensure healthcare and food for millions of poor and struggling Americans, are under dire threat. The proposed budget slashes programs like these while funding huge increases for mass deportations. At a time of deep national fear, economic inequality, and political division, we are called to bear witness—to proclaim what is morally right and to stand with the people Jesus called “the least of these.”

Together, we will:

  • Sing, pray, read Scripture, and lift up the voices of those impacted by budget injustice
  • Urge our Senators to protect the most vulnerable
  • Carry this witness back to our congregations and communities
