Bishop Budde Honors St. Mark’s
On Saturday, March 14, 23 members of St. Mark’s joined several hundred people from other churches at Samaritan Ministry’s annual “Next Step Breakfast.” This year’s event celebrated the organization’s 40th Anniversary. Bishop Mariann Budde honored St. Mark’s and the 11 other Episcopal churches in the District, Maryland, and Virginia that joined forces “across boundaries of state, city, and diocese” to create the Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington in 1986. She praised the founders’ faith statement: To emulate the compassion of Jesus by doing everything possible…to move people out of crisis into stability and dignity in a manner that fosters their growth and independence and empowers them. In closing, she urged all of us “to do our part to take this vision forward and see where God will lead us next.”
