Happy Afghan Baby News
Sajid and Selsela Stanikzai’s son Usman was born on his due date, June 30th. Karen Getman visited the family and reports that “He is an adorable baby and the first time parents are so enchanted…..and very grateful to our community for all the support and generosity they have received for welcoming their baby boy.” He was wrapped in a blanket with a ribbon of blessing and a pin with the Hand of Fatima and a blue glass bead to protect him from the “evil eye.” Sajid again expressed their gratitude and the confidence this gave them as new parents with very limited resources in a new country. They want to convey thanks to all who helped to ensure they would be ready for their son. Look for photos of baby Usman with the ribbon and Hand of Fatima on the foyer bulletin board!
