Youth Worship at St. Mark’s

Sunday Morning Worship

St. Mark’s holds three worship services (9am, 11:15am, and 5pm) every Sunday with the exception of July and August, in which there is only one morning service at 10:00AM. Although children are welcome at all of our services, many families choose to attend the 9:00AM service, which ends at 9:45 and does not include a sermon. Sermon Seminar is held in the nave from 9:45-10:45 while Sunday school classes are held in the Undercroft.

Children's Chapel
Join us weekly at 9 am in the Adams Room for Children’s Chapel. This short service for young children is held in the Adams Room during the Liturgy of the Word upstairs. Songs, drawn prayers, and a confession ritual are part of this hands-on, kid-friendly gathering, led weekly by our clergy and seminarian. The group rejoins the service in the Nave at the Peace. Music leaders and parent volunteers are needed; please contact Marcella Gillis if you would like to become involved.

Monthly Family Services

In an effort to provide greater opportunities for our children to participate more fully in our liturgy we have established a Family Service held every second Sunday of the month running September through May.

In addition to hearing a special children’s reflection following the Gospel reading, children and youth have the opportunity to write parts of the liturgy and lay serve. If your child would like to participate in the Family Service as an acolyte, beadle, reader, or lay server, please send an e-mail to one of the coordinators below.

*Acolyte (assist the clergy at the altar and lead procession): contact  Leslie Allen

Beadles (greeter at the door and usher): contact Burton Reist.

Readers (read lesson and Prayers of the People): contact  Leslie Allen.

Lay Servers (serve wine/ grape juice during communion):  Linda Dickinson.

*A note about Acolytes: All acolytes at St. Mark’s are required to complete training. Our vergers, David Deutsch and Margaret Wood, conduct these trainings and can schedule a time convenient for you and your child. To sign up please contact Leslie.Allen.
