Contractual Procedure, Management and Budget

Hiring and management of the consultants: By canon law, hiring of all staff is the responsibility of the rector or designee. This includes consultants as well as "direct-hire" employees. As a matter of course, hiring is carried out with the advice and counsel of the Vestry, and special committees at the discretion of the clergy and Vestry.

This program's place within St. Mark's organizational structure: Until recently R&R has been under the Outreach Board's oversight. However, as R&R is by nature a parish-wide program, Rector Paul Abernathy and Senior Warden Kenn Allen felt that it more appropriately fit the category of a Standing Committee. They have assigned day-to-day oversight of the contract to the R&R co-chairs.

Budget for the program: The funding for the contract with JaNay Queen and Marc Brimhall-Vargas, as with Harriet Lewis, is covered by the St. Mark's Endowment fund. Although funds do not exist at present for special events related to the program, modest funds to be made available and parish contributions should cover anticipated expenses.

R & R co-chairs Peter, Jack, Penny as well as Kenn and Paul would be pleased to answer any questions about this program not addressed here. We all look forward to working with you on this most exciting program.
