The Fourth Annual Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence
This year, the Newtown Foundation (the charitable arm of the Newtown Action Alliance), in partnership with St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence, States United to Prevent Gun Violence, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and Organizing for Action will be sponsoring the 4th Annual National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence on the 4th anniversary date of the Sandy Hook shooting, Wednesday, December 14th at 7 p.m., at St Mark’s Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill, Washington D.C.
On December 14, 2012 twenty-seven people died in a mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Later that month, the National Cathedral hosted a vigil in honor of the victims. For the past two years, the vigil has been held at St. Mark’s to enable family and friends of victims, who travel from all over the country, to lobby Congress on Capitol Hill for common sense gun violence prevention. St. Mark’s parishioners provide hospitality for those who travel to Washington for the vigil and lobby days and take part in planning the vigil. Contact the Rev. Justi Schunior if you would like to volunteer for this year’s vigil.
