Plan and help conduct worship services.

Acolytes

Position

1-3 per service

Duties

Help prepare for service, lead procession & participate at points of the service.

Experience Required

Some training is provided. Young people at 9:00 AM. service, all ages at 11:00.

Time Commitment

Must arrive 15 minutes before the service. Commitment is for one service at a time.

Selection Process

Contact coordinator for desired service (9:00 or 11:00).

Adjunct Clergy

Position

Ordained, adjunct volunteers who serve at worship services

Duties

Act as presider, co-presider, deacon, and/or preacher at worship services.

Experience Required

Must be ordained priest or deacon.

Time Commitment

Assigned to specific services in a tri-monthly roster prepared by coordinator.

Selection Process

Selected by coordinator and rector.

Altar Guild Member

Position

Several positions

Duties

Prepare altar for communion & clean silverware after services and launder altar linens (normally returned on subsequent Sunday. Assist in semi-annual brass/silver polishing day. Work is accomplished in teams of two or more.

Experience Required

No experience required. Should enjoy “behind the scenes” work.

Time Commitment

Approximately 8 - 10 Sundays plus some other services (weddings, etc.) each year. Two brass polishing sessions per year (before Christmas and Easter). One meeting each year.

Beadles

Position

Multiple

Duties

Serve as ushers by greeting congregation and collecting Offertory. Also assist in preparing for service.

Experience Required

No experience required.

Time Commitment

Must arrive at church about 15 minutes before the service. Commitment for one service at a time.

Selection Process

Contact coordinator for 9:00 AM. service or vergers for 11:00 AM. service.

Bread & Wine

Position

N/A

Duties

Contribute the bread or wine and present it to the altar.

Experience Required

No experience required.

Time Commitment

This is a single service task -- no commitment beyond the service.

Contact coordinator for desired service (9:00 or 11:00).

Lay Servers

Position

N/A

Duties

Process with the clergy and the acolytes at the beginning and end of the service, and serve the wine during Holy Communion.

Experience Required

No experience required.

Time Commitment

Must arrive at Church early to join the procession. Commitment for one service at a time.

Selection Process

Contact coordinator for desired service (9:00 or 11:00).

Reader or Prayer Leader

Position

N/A

Duties

Prepare well, then read or lead during the service, as assigned.

Experience Required

Just a willingness to prepare well and show up for assigned service.

Time Commitment

About ˝ hour/service in addition to coming to church as usual. Dates are negotiated.

Worship Task Force

Task Force Member

N/A

Duties

Task force is organized for each liturgical season. Members meet and discuss the Lectionary readings with the preacher. They also plan the service by deciding what will take place and the hymns to be sung.

Experience Required

None

Time Commitment

Weekly meetings of several hours for 5-7 weeks.
