Christian Education Program Report and Recommendations by Co-directors
In Spring of 2010, parishioners hosted dinner conversations where parish members discussed their visions for the Christian Education Program at St. Mark's. Members were asked what they valued, what they thought needed improvement, what the program could offer to help St. Mark’s live into our professed “open community ethos," and what would assist them personally to "engage boldly in the struggles of life with love, justice, and compassion," as our mission statement declares. More than 120 parishioners attended. Many thanks to those who hosted, facilitated, took notes, and participated in this endeavor. From the many comments and suggestions offered, Betty Foster and Pete Eveleth prepared the attached report and recommendations. Please let us know if you have any questions by contacting Betty Foster and Pete Eveleth.
In January of 2011, the co-directors prepared their recommendations based on the dinner report and presented them to the Vestry. We hope that this response and the original report will continue to lead to further discussions.
A robust, responsive education program is vital to the life of the parish. We encourage parishioners to share their ideas and interests with this year's Christian Ed co-directors, Penny Farley, Katherine Loevinger, Will Long, Bobbi Smith, Rita Ossolinski and Don Ellison.
