Christmas Party with the Capitol Hill Group Ministry
St. Mark's has a warm relationship with the staff and clients of Capitol Hill Group Ministry's Congregation-based Shelter program. Twice each year we host family nights with dinner, a chance to visit together and activities. Christmas family nights are always special and this year was no exception. We had about twenty families with 45 children. Ten CHGM staff members came and about 40 parishioners -- seniors parents and children -- acted as hosts.
Dinner was fabulous -- ham, chicken, corn pudding, mac & cheese, jello salad, collard green, home-made biscuits, and so were the live piano music, crafts activities for the children and the visit from Santa Claus! Writing to thank us Brian Ayres, our liaison to the Shelter Ministry, wrote saying, "Capitol HIll Group Ministry values our partnership with St. Mark's and our families benefit throught the gift of giving and fellowship. This was my first Family Night at St. Mark's and I pray to experience many more."
