Introduction
St. Mark's Mission Statement
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is an open community, welcoming people wherever they are on their faith
journey. We celebrate the gifts of God that empower us to engage boldly in the struggles of life and
care for others with love, justice and compassion.
Christian Education Mission Statement
Christian Education at St. Mark’s undertakes to provide classes that enable people to be sustained in
their search for meaning, encounter the Lord in their deepest concerns, and be strengthened by the
symbols of the Christian faith.
Christian Education Focus: 2007 - 2008
Living Authentically as I Engage in an Imperfect World.
Fees For Christian Education Programs
Christian education at St. Mark’s has been a largely self-supporting program for many years. Fees for adult
classes with weekends pay the cost for staying at a retreat center and for meals. In the last few years,
the vestry has allocated about $6,000 a year to underwrite part of the cost of the Introduction to Life at
St. Mark’s and the Life, Community and Faith class to make them more affordable. Fees from other adult
classes help pay for books, supplies, Leader manuals, and miscellaneous expenses of the adult and Sunday
School programs, such as this catalog. Limited scholarships for classes are available by request to one of
the Co-Directors.
