One of our most unusual institutions is the Winged Lion Pub which is open nearly every Sunday after the 11:15 service. Each week volunteers prepare lunch for those wishing to stay, often as many as 80-100 folks. Wine, juices, iced tea and other beverages are available but the unique item is our very own Winged Lion Beer, brewed locally and prepared by a group volunteers. Our brew-meister often prepares special beers for the holidays or special events. “Pub Lunch” has become an important opportunity for us to gather and enjoy one another’s company.

Promoting a just peace in the Holy Land. Are you curious about efforts in our Diocese? Or those of Israelis and Palestinians working together in the Holy Land? If so, join members of St. Mark’s Pilgrimage Group to hear Peter Hawley present a slide/video program produced by the Companion Diocese Committee for Jerusalem. This production examines common misconceptions about the conflict and suggests ways that individuals and congregations can promote a just peace for both Palestinians and Israelis. Then we’ll screen Within the Eye of the Storm, a new, one-hour documentary that tells the inspiring story of two former combatants who both lost daughters to the conflict yet became partners promoting dialogue and reconciliation. All are welcome! Join us on Sunday, March 17, from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm in the Parish Hall.

This alternative Sunday worship service is truly the work of the people, which is the definition of liturgy. We gather in an intimate setting where all are welcomed to be part of our contemplative worship experience. The Eucharist-centered service includes a homily balanced with various liturgical styles and musical resources. Following the service we invite all to a social hour with plenty of food and beverages. It is our expressed intent that this alternative service mirror Jesus’ message of radical hospitality to all who desire to become part of a loving community where we can deepen their spiritual growth.
