Several concerts will take place at St. Mark’s during March:

Arco Voce Concert | Saturday, March 23 at 7:30 pm

The Arco Voce ensemble will perform an all-Brahms program featuring various songs as well as the great F minor Piano Quintet (op. 34a). General admission: $20

Chiarina Chamber Players Concert | Sunday, March 17 at 7:30 pm

Titled “Transcendence,” this program of 20th century music for violin, clarinet, cello, and piano will feature works by Bartok, Arvo Pärt, and Messiaen, including the stunning “Quartet for the End of Time.” A pre-concert film screening will take place in Baxter Hall from 6:30-7 pm to provide some background on Messiaen’s piece. Tickets: $10-20 with an online discount at Eventbrite using promo code STMARKS5

Carmina & Illuminare Choral Concert | Saturday, March 16 at 8 pm

Two choirs will present music from the Eton Choirbook, a Latin church music collection, one of few such manuscripts to survive the English Reformation. Expressive dissonances and intricate polyphony are hallmarks of these compositions. The passionate Stabat Mater by John Browne is a cornerstone of the program, which also features secular music, including William Cornysh’s charming “Ah, Robin, Gentle Robin” and settings of bawdier texts by John Skelton, who served as poet at the court of King Henry VII.
