This year’s Parish Retreat will take place June 8-9, just a short drive outside the city in Adamstown, MD. It’s a great opportunity to connect more deeply with the St. Mark’s community and have a little fun while we’re at it. If you missed registration and still want to come, contact Scott
right away to inquire about space.

Two important notes:
- This year Claggett will have vegan options for us!
- We plan to offer a bus or van for those who’d like to travel together!
This year’s theme is “Gifts in Community.” To me, one of the biggest gifts of being in community is the chance to both know others and to be known. So this year, we’ll have many opportunities to get to know each other with greater depth and connection. We will have both larger group sessions and smaller break-out sessions to be fully present together and connect authentically with each other.
We are still working out the details, but we plan to use some of our time together to give everyone an opportunity to explore connecting with a small group that will continue to meet throughout the year. We have some ideas for small groups, such as groups based on geography, and those based on a specific theme, lifestyle, or identity. We want everyone to have a chance to connect deeply with those in similar circumstances and across generations and identities. Please let Scott know if there is an idea around which you’d like to form a small group, or if you are interested in helping to lead one.
I’d also like to invite our more established groups within the parish to reach out to me
to offer some opportunities for others to learn about your group. Would you like to do some of the work of your ministry during the weekend and invite others to participate? Would you like to pair up with another group and explore how you might collaborate? We are still finalizing the schedule!
Please do seriously consider coming, whether you have been at Saint Mark’s for years or just for a few weeks. This is our chance to enjoy each other’s company, build our community, and mindfully move toward building the kingdom of God. I would love to see you there!
